Lawn Care in Winter Garden

We mow, edge, feed and treat your lawn on a steady schedule. Every step is set to your grass type, because St. Augustine, zoysia and bahia each want a different height, fertilizer and watering rhythm. You get a thicker, greener yard and fewer bare patches.

What Our Lawn Care Covers

Most lawns around here are St. Augustine, with some zoysia and bahia mixed in. They look alike from the street, but they don't grow alike. St. Augustine likes to stay tall and gets hit by chinch bugs. Zoysia is cut lower and spreads slowly. Bahia handles dry spells and sandy soil but throws up tall seed heads all summer.

So we start by figuring out what you have and how it's doing. Then we set the mower height, pick the fertilizer and plan weed control around that grass, not a one-size program. If something needs more than regular care, like a dead section that needs sod installation or sprinklers that miss half the yard, we'll tell you plainly.

What's Included in a Visit

  1. 01

    Mowing at the right height

St. Augustine gets cut at about 3.5 to 4 inches, zoysia lower, bahia in between. Cutting too short is the fastest way to stress a lawn, so we don't.

  2. 02

    Sharp blades

A dull blade tears grass and leaves brown, frayed tips. We keep blades sharp so the cut is clean and heals fast.

  3. 03

    Edging and trimming

We edge along driveways, walks and beds, and string-trim around fences and trees. Clippings get blown off hard surfaces before we leave.

  4. 04

    Fertilizer chosen for your grass

We mostly use slow-release fertilizer. It feeds over weeks instead of pushing a quick flush of soft growth that pests love. We follow local fertilizer rules for the summer rainy season.

  5. 05

    Weed and pest checks

We look for chinch bug damage, grubs, fungus and weeds on each visit. Spot treatments come first, so you're not paying to spray the whole yard for one problem.

Signs Your Lawn Needs Regular Care

  • Yellow or straw-colored patches

In St. Augustine, patches that spread along sunny edges in hot weather often mean chinch bugs. Caught early, it's a treatment. Caught late, it's new sod.

  • Weeds taking over

Dollarweed, crabgrass and sedge move in where grass is thin. They usually point to a watering or mowing problem, not just a weed problem.

  • Scalped spots after mowing

Brown stripes or bald humps mean the mower is set too low for your grass or the ground is uneven.

  • Grass that feels spongy

A thick, spongy layer under the blades is thatch. It holds water and invites fungus.

  • No time to keep up

Summer growth is fast here. Miss two weeks and the lawn gets ahead of you, and catching up stresses the grass.

How We Get Started

  1. 1

    Free walkthrough

We walk your yard with you and check the grass type, soil, shade and any damage. We ask how you water and what bugs you most about the lawn.

  2. 2

    Plain written plan

You get a written estimate that lists what we'll do, how often and what each part costs. No bundled extras you didn't ask for.

  3. 3

    Regular visits

Through the hot, rainy months we're out weekly, and we space visits out once growth slows in winter. We close gates behind us and blow clippings off walks and drives.

  4. 4

    Check-ins as things change

If we see pest damage, a broken sprinkler head or a dying spot, we tell you and send photos. You decide what happens next.

What Affects the Price of Lawn Care

Lawn care is priced by the property, not a flat rate. We look at the yard during the free walkthrough and give you a written number before any work starts. Sometimes the lawn turns out to need more, like new sod or a full redesign. For those bigger jobs you can borrow as much as $100,000, spread payments over anywhere from 2 to 12 years, and pay the balance off early without a penalty.

Lawn size
More turf means more mowing time and more fertilizer. A small front yard costs far less than a large corner lot.
How often we come
Weekly visits in summer cost more over a year than every-other-week service. We'll suggest what your grass actually needs.
Obstacles and access
Lots of beds, trees, slopes or a narrow side gate mean more trimming and slower mowing.
Fertilizer and treatments
Mowing alone is the base. Adding feeding, weed control or pest treatment raises the cost, and some grasses need more of it than others.
Starting condition
An overgrown or weedy lawn takes extra work the first few visits. After that, it usually settles into the regular price.

Lawn Care Questions

How often should my lawn be mowed?

In the warm months, most St. Augustine and zoysia lawns need cutting every week. In the cooler months, every two weeks is usually enough. Bahia grows seed heads fast in summer, so it can need weekly cuts just to look neat.

Which fertilizer do you use?

Mostly slow-release fertilizer matched to your grass. It feeds steadily and doesn't cause a burst of soft growth that draws pests and fungus. We follow local rules on what can go down during the summer rainy season.

Can you fix the dead spots in my yard?

Sometimes. If the roots are still alive, better mowing, watering and a pest treatment can bring it back. If the grass is gone, sod installation is the faster fix, and we'll tell you which one it is.

Do I need to be home when you come?

No. As long as we can get through the gate and pets are inside, we can do the work. We'll let you know if we find anything worth looking at.

Why does my lawn look bad even though I water it?

Often it's the watering itself. Short, daily runs keep roots shallow, and broken heads leave dry spots. Our irrigation service can check coverage and set a schedule that waters deeper and less often.
